My first finish of 2023!
I’m so excited that I finished my Sedona Sky quilt. It’s queen size and fits my bed well!

I made this quilt as part of Capital Quilts’ Second Saturday program. I was on retreat in June and some friends were working on their blocks. I loved the quilt and sent a message asking if I could join mid-year. They let me, so I got to work getting caught up. I’m thrilled that I finished this quilt at the same time the year-long Sew Along ended.
Most of the blocks in this quilt used the Mini Quick Curve Ruler from Sew Kind of Wonderful, and it was their pattern.

Each month, Jan and Betsy hosted a video presentation and gave us tips and tricks for completing each block. We made the required number of each block every month. There were a couple of layouts to choose from, but — of course — I went big! LOL
I have a pretty big stash of batiks, so I decided to create my quilt using batiks. I bought a bolt of background fabric and a few half-yards to get some color variation I didn’t have, but mostly I used fabric from my stash.
I put a few of the extra blocks I made on the back:

I have more units left over, and I plan to make a mini quilt with those. I used the whole bolt of background fabric except about a yard, which I’ll use in the mini quilt.
I quilted it using the Funky Feathers pattern from Urban Elementz and white Glide thread:
I bound the quilt using a mult-color batik fabric that I had in my stash and used some of it on the back:

I posted some photos of my in-process blocks below.
Second Saturday 2023 begins this weekend, and there’s still time for you to sign up if you want to join us. We meet via Zoom and meetings are recorded, so you can participate from anywhere!

Thank you for this post. Loved seeing the progress and then the finished quilt. It’s lovely!
Gorgeous quilt! Enjoyed your post and photos! Congrats on completing a beautiful quilt!
